A new multimedia guide for this famous Lincolnshire site
(with a separate version for Children) is expected to massively enhance the interpretation. A visually Impaired and Hearing Impaired Version should also cater for all of the access requirements.
The Hall has a fascinating history with two families featuring, the Burghs and the Hickman’s In 1720 Sir Neville Hickman built a large new house on the outskirts of Gainsborough, they moved out of the ‘old’ Hall but did not sell it. The hall then went through many phases of use, including a theatre, Masonic lodge as well as lodging rooms. In 1949 after many years of neglect the hall was saved from demolition by an association called the Friends of Gainsborough Old Hall.
