Access Tours and Guides
For Deaf, hard of hearing (hoh), blind and and partially sighted visitors, we can create a range of accessible tours:
- BSL (British Sign Language)
- Audio Described
British Sign Language (BSL) tours are created in- house using our Green Screen suite using professional signers for on-screen interpretation. For non-BSL users or those who wish to have captioned support, we can provide subtitles.
For Visually Impaired visitors, we create a Descriptive Audio Tour, which is an adaptation of the main standard tour. In terms of content, we use scriptwriters who are experienced ‘describers’, and use a variety of techniques to paint an ‘audio picture’ of the tour. We also encourage the scripts to include an element of touch to increase the stimulation of the tour for the visually impaired visitor.
To maximise your offer and appeal to foreign tourists and visitors, it can be to your great advantage to offer a multimedia guide in their native language. We can translate your multimedia guide or audio tour into both European and Non-European languages.
ATS Heritage has notable experience in producing content in the UK home languages too (Welsh, Scots and Irish Gaelic) and we only use experienced mother-tongue translators and voiceover artists.
